GPT-5.6 is set to launch publicly on Thursday 9 July. It’s not clear exactly where, but the expanded preview is global, which is a good sign. That said, the UK and EU will probably have to wait, as usual. Hopefully not. 🤞
Sol is their flagship frontier model (like Opus or Fable). Terra delivers GPT-5.5 performance at half the cost. Luna is the fast, affordable option for high-volume work.
Remember, 5.6 is estimated to be 2 - 4T params, could come with stronger safety checks, and adds an extra Ultracode reasoning level. We’ll also get a Cerebras variant at up to 750 tokens per second.
GPT-5.6 Pro is also expected, and possibly a 1M context window. There were hints that 5.6 will be better for frontend development.
