这个用户把ChatGPT新界面的坑都扒出来了,模式命名混乱、功能缺这少那,OpenAI赶紧改改吧。
用户指出OpenAI新版ChatGPT界面中Chat、Work和Codex三种模式命名模糊,实际功能重叠;桌面端与Web端术语不一致,如“Branch into new chat”与“Continue in new task”本质相同;Codex仅存在于桌面端,Web端缺失;模型选择器中的Sol、Terra、Luna等名称对多数用户不直观;完整语音模式在Work模式下缺失;桌面端性能极慢。
OpenAI, why have you made ChatGPT and Codex more c…
OpenAI, why have you made ChatGPT and Codex more confusing? It's a mess!
The new ChatGPT web and desktop experience is incredibly powerful, but the interface has become far more confusing. Here are my observations, issues and suggestions.
1. Chat, Work and Codex
OpenAI describes:
- Chat for questions and conversations - Work for research, longer tasks and finished deliverables - Codex for software development
In practice, the desktop app presents these as different ways of viewing and working with ChatGPT.
Make that explicit:
- "Simple" view: the current Chat experience and the default - "Advanced" view: the current Work experience - "Developer" view: the current Codex experience
Codex ("developer view") is available in the desktop app but not on the web. Add it to the web. Advanced users could customise what appears in each view. Sync these across desktop and web.
2. Chats, tasks and side chats
The web says “Branch into new chat”. The desktop app says “Continue in new task”. These appear to be the same action, so the terminology should be consistent.
The desktop app also has Chat mode alongside an “Open side task” feature within a task. These are different things with extremely similar names.
3. Desktop and web content
The new desktop app can access existing ChatGPT chats, but it should also provide access to:
- Projects - Scheduled Tasks - Images - GPTs (rename to Agents, obviously these include skills too) - Library {move Images here, add a Files tab) - Pins
The new app is supposed to bring ChatGPT together, but important parts of the existing ChatGPT experience are still missing or separated.
4. Extensions
Agents (GPTs), Skills and Plugins should sit under one menu called “Extensions”.
The new Plugins Directory also needs proper filters and a way to sort by latest or most recently updated.
5. Model selection
The simple model selector is fine, but names such as Sol, Terra and Luna should not appear in the simple version. Most people will not know what those names mean. The simple selector should concentrate on the level of intelligence, speed or power required. Replace "Sol", "Tera" and "Luna" with more descriptive names anyway
The advanced selector is considerably more complicated, with combinations of:
- Up to seven models (soon to be 6 when 5.4 leaves on 23rd July, oddly 5.3 and o3 are staying?) - Up to six effort levels (5.6 on Sol on Work mode is the one place with all 6) - Two speed settings, no Cerebras though?
Chat, Work and Codex also expose different combinations.
Chat has "Pro", while Work and Codex use settings such as Max and Ultra (is one of these "Pro"?).
6. Voice Mode
Full Voice Mode is available in standard ChatGPT on the web and mobile, but it is not available in Work on the web or across the new desktop app at all.
Voice should be available throughout Chat, Work and Codex rather than being tied to particular platforms or views.
7. Performance
The new desktop app is still extremely slow to load and scroll.
8. Desktop applications
Users can now encounter: - The new "ChatGPT" desktop app - "ChatGPT Beta" - "ChatGPT Classic"
ChatGPT Beta is also on an older version number to the main ChatGPT app, which makes it even harder to tell which version people should be using.
9. Onboarding
The onboarding does not adequately explain:
• The difference between Chat, Work and Codex • Why do the options differ between web and desktop • Which model should ordinary users choose • Why is the same account content not available everywhere
The interface currently exposes too much of OpenAI’s internal product structure (e.g the new 5.6 model names).
There was no explanation for the new slider or the change to the Advanced model selector; tooltips for these would be very handy.
10. Sites
The "Sites" option in Work Mode is greyed out for me on ChatGPT but I can "create a site" on the desktop app.
I think that's it, but I didn't even look at the mobile app. Please forgive me if I've made any mistakes. As I said, this is a mess.
Can I please be added to your trusted tester program so I can stop this gibberish from happening, please?
