Zhipu (Z.ai) has open-sourced its ZCode coding agent on GitHub under the Apache 2.0 licence, covering the desktop app, browser interface and terminal agent. The release answers user concerns that ZCode uploaded local codebases and secret keys to the cloud. A scan of the open-sourced ZCode repository found no logic that uploads or auto-syncs local projects to the cloud. The approach mirrors Grok Build, which was also open-sourced to allow community scrutiny.
