TorchTPU brings out-of-the-box PyTorch execution on TPUs
PyTorch users no longer need vendor-specific forks or heavy rewrites to move training and inference onto TPUs, which lowers the barrier to diversifying GPU-heavy fleets. Engineers evaluating TPU capacity against NVIDIA GPU costs can now test portability with their existing codebase. Google's own stack gains a smoother on-ramp for the PyTorch ecosystem's massive installed base.
PyTorch announced TorchTPU, a toolchain that lets users run models on Google TPUs out of the box and migrate existing workloads with minimal code changes. It delivers competitive inference and training performance through eager execution optimizations, integration with torch.compile, and native hardware acceleration. Details were published on the PyTorch blog, with the announcement posted on 2 Feb 2026.
TorchTPU enables seamless out-of-the-box model execution and TPU migration while delivering industry-competitive inference and training performance through eager execution optimizations, torch.compile integration, & native hardware acceleration.
