It's hard enough to run a small food business - even harder when the team doesn't all speak the same language or work on the same time zone. But the founders of HEYDOH, a single-origin soy sauce business, are using Notion’s AI tools to collaborate together in both English and Mandarin. The other day, cofounder Christine Liu searched for a container size in English… and got the right answer back from a teammate's Mandarin-language notes. "I upgraded us to the paid NotionAI plan immediately," says Christine. Even a year ago, it would've been much more difficult to collaborate across continents and languages to achieve HEYDOH's vision of becoming the first of its kind on American shelves. But through their shared Notion workspace with AI agents and other features, they can think together on the key levers to move their business and delight their customers - and delegate the rest of the busywork to Notion. HEYDOH started when cookbook author Clarissa Wei wanted to create better-tasting and healthier soy sauce for American consumers. She pitched her future co-founder, Christine Liu, and took her to a supplier in Taiwan. Christine was initially hesitant, but after tasting the premium, low-sodium soy sauce herself, she was sold. And HEYDOH was born. "I set up Notion literally the second week that we thought of this idea," Christine says. What started as a simple wiki - company values, mission, target customer, marketing strategy - has now become the operating hub of their small business: - People working between Brooklyn and Taiwan, one of whom only speaks Mandarin, off the same source of truth. - Meetings recorded, transcribed, and turned into action items by AI. "It was almost like all three of us were at the meeting instead of when it was just one," Christine says. "Much preferable versus someone staying up till three in the morning." - Multilingual search across English and Mandarin make it easy to collaborate despite language and time zone differences. Like that time Christine found what she needed in a Mandarin-language note, without any extra steps. - An agent that turns Slack threads into tasks on a project management visual. Christine calls it "almost a project manager intern.” All of this allows Christine to focus on her most critical work as a founder, from analyzing e-commerce metrics, choosing retailers, to pricing the next product. And the rest of her team can focus on what they do best, too. In her words: "more time and brain space to do the deep thinking.” With HEYDOH, Christine says: "We want to be America's next Asian pantry staple, a brand people can trust to source intentionally and with them in mind.” Two languages. One bottle of soy sauce. And one Notion workspace holding it all together. 💬 1 🔄 1 ❤️ 22 👀 3392 📊 4 ⚡
