EN 18286:2026 – AI Quality Management System for EU AI Act Regulatory Purposes

EN 18286:2026《人工智能——欧盟AI法案质量管理体系》协调标准
European Commission·Published 2026-10-19·Checked by 管理员 on 2026-10-19

The European Commission published in the Official Journal the reference to the first harmonised standard under the AI Act, EN 18286:2026, developed by CEN and CENELEC. The standard operationalises the Article 17 quality management system requirements for high-risk AI systems, and providers implementing it benefit from a presumption of conformity via Commission Implementing Decision (EU) 2026/2274. It is built around the AI system lifecycle and can be layered on ISO/IEC 42001, ISO 9001 or ISO 13485, ahead of high-risk requirements applying in December 2027 / August 2028.

What it means for you

  • Providers of high-risk AI systems that implement EN 18286 gain a presumption of conformity with Article 17 QMS requirements
  • Organisations without ISO/IEC 42001 can use the standard to extend an existing QMS or build their first one to place high-risk AI on the EU market
  • Providers in regulated sectors can integrate it into existing management systems instead of running a separate parallel one
  • What to do

ComplianceRun a gap analysis of your QMS against EN 18286:2026 and decide on an adoption path
LegalAssess integrating EN 18286 with existing ISO/IEC 42001 or ISO 9001 systems
