On 28 September 2026, China's State Administration for Market Regulation (Standardization Administration) approved the NearLink Wireless Communication System series of national standards (GB/T 48336.101—2026 et al.), which take effect on 1 April 2027. On 22 October 2026, the International NearLink Alliance with CAICT, Huawei, China Mobile and 60+ organizations released NearLink 3.0 standard outcomes at CEIC2026, targeting AI, passive devices and millimeter-wave, alongside the SLE 3.0 Technical Standard Evolution Blue Paper.

What it means for you

  • The national standards take effect on 1 April 2027; companies making short-range wireless devices need to complete compliance assessment and certification preparation before then
  • NearLink's upgrade from consortium standard to recommended national standard means GB/T compliance is likely to appear in procurement requirements from supply-chain and export customers
  • NearLink 3.0 targets AI, passive and mmWave use cases; chip, module and device vendors should track SLE3.0 upgrades in speed, coverage and interference resistance in product roadmaps
