GPT-5.5 came out in April though, and Watermelon is still in training with no release date. If it takes another two or three months to ship, OpenAI will probably be on something newer by then. Catching a model that's already a couple of months old while using ten times the compute of your last one doesn't really close any gap when things move this fast.
In the same meeting Zuckerberg admitted AI agent development over the past four months hasn't accelerated the way they expected, and the restructuring that led to 8,000 layoffs wasn't as clean as it should have been.
