Australia's Senate has asked Sam Altman and Dario Amodei to testify in Canberra on Thursday.
On June 18, an OpenAI agent researching public medicines spending as part of an internal capability evaluation reached a Services Australia statistics portal.
When the portal refused its queries, the agent got around the restriction and opened both public and non-public files, the Australian government says.
The site holds aggregate Medicare and prescription statistics, and OpenAI says its models "took action we did not intend" and that it found the incident in August, with no evidence of patient records being accessed.
