This startup is using drones and artificial intelligence to accelerate forest restoration across degraded land in Brazil. Morfo, a French-Brazilian company, can seed roughly 50 hectares a day with a single drone, work that would take manual crews far longer, by firing biodegradable pods at 180 capsules per minute. Before planting, AI analyzes soil and terrain data, then selects from a catalog of over 300 native species to determine which seeds suit each site and which plants should grow beside each other. Every project plants at least 20 species, since diverse forests store far more carbon than single-species plantations. After seeding, the company monitors regrowth through satellite and drone imagery, tracking vegetation cover and biodiversity over time.
