Dr @anandesh of Persistent has been warning about reducing utility of middle management since the rise of SaaS and cloud during 2010s. His thesis is playing out now.
Although, AI is being blamed for loss of middle management jobs, industry was fine with these jobs, despite knowing their limited value add to the organisation, all these years because they were growing comfortably.
Now that the topline growth has plateaued, companies are resorting to job cuts to shore up the bottom line. This will work for some time, but large IT services companies have to find new avenues of growth, as there is a limit to such job cuts.
